Grew up in mohandeseen, among the majority of his
fan base in "mosada2",
always been a rap fan since the golden age of hiphop
in the 90's, then European rap
started to emerge.
As a rap fan, started listening
intensely to hiphop,
the rhyming structure of the lyrics,
and
the space it provides the artist to express his
perspective, how it reflects on his
culture and community,
southern fat beats mixed
with the urban style.
Surkn's first inspiration was of the movie "Hustle
and Flow" by Terrance Howard and
Ludacris, as it portrayed how hiphop
was built a
verse at a time by small anonymous
contributions that made this art a multi million
dollar industry
in the last couple of
decades.
the message of this movie was abundantly clear
quoting "everyone has the right to
contribute a verse" as the beauty
of hiphop remains
in representing oneself's talent,
identity and creativity with the least equipment
available,
and one of the most people who
understood this message was surkn, as it became his
message too, that was
the
muse that pushed surkn to pick up his pen and start
opening up to his pad.
